Liverpool news: Jurgen Klopp plays cheeky joke on ace as Reds gear up to take on West Ham
JURGEN KLOPP was in a mischievous mood as the Reds trained ahead of their Premier League clash with West Ham United on Monday (8pm).
Liverpool were in high spirits as they trained under the lights on Friday night in preparation for their clash with West Ham.
Jurgen Klopp’s side do not play until next week but have not taken their foot off the pedal and were seen working hard in freezing conditions at Melwood.
The Reds are currently five points clear at the top of the Premier League but could see that lead pegged back to just two if Manchester City beat Arsenal on Sunday.
However, the pressure does not appear to be getting to the Liverpool squad as they joked around during their latest training session.
Manager Klopp appeared to be leading the laughs, aiming a cheeky pinch at Curtis Jones that sent the young midfielder scampering away.
The German boss had a wide grin on his face despite the chilly conditions and his players looked to be responding.
Mohamed Salah was all-smiles while team-mates Fabinho and Sadio Mane were also beaming from ear-to-ear.
The Reds will have been delighted to see Trent Alexander-Arnold nearing a return to action following a knee injury.
The right-back trained alone earlier in the day but was seen completing ball-work session on the outdoor pitches.
Alexander-Arnold has not featured since the win over Brighton in early January, leaving James Milner, Fabinho and Jordan Henderson to deputise.
The 20-year-old will sit out the meeting with West Ham but should be back in full training next week.
However, Dejan Lovren has suffered another injury blow after a recurrence of a hamstring problem while Joe Gomez and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain remain sidelined.
