Arsenal news: Training ground snow disrupts Man City preparations
ARSENAL have had to battle the elements in the run up to their Premier League clash with Manchester City this weekend.
Arsenal players were in for a chilly training session on Friday morning after several inches of snow fell at London Colney overnight.
Unai Emery and his players won’t have been happy to see the icy conditions at the complex, with the blanketed pitches potentially hampering their pre-match preparations.
However, ground staff have been hard at work clearing a playing surface so the Gunners can gear up to face Manchester City with as little disruption as possible.
The Arsenal squad will have been greeted by a picturesque scene at their training base this morning – if they weren’t snowed in themselves!
The UK is currently plagued by travel chaos caused following the coldest day in seven years on Thursday.
Snow has fallen all across the country, with residents in north-east Scotland recording temperatures of almost -15C.
There was also a severe weather warning issues in Wales, and north London was not immune from the freezing conditions.
A tractor and plenty of shovels were the order of the day for Arsenal staff as they bid to reclaim the training pitches from the elements.
Any disruption will be particularly unwelcome this week with the Gunners travelling to defending champions City.
New signing Denis Suarez will hope to get out and train with his new team-mates ahead of a potential Premier League debut against his former side.
The 25-year-old has moved to the Emirates on loan until the end of the season, although he did also sign a contract extension with Barcelona during the recent negotiations.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are set to be without a number of their first-team defenders again with Hector Bellerin, Rob Holding and Sokratis Papastathopoulos all sidelined.
