Newcastle transfer news: The THREE transfers Newcastle need to stay up - Chris Waddle
NEWCASTLE need to strengthen in three different positions in this transfer window.
That’s according to former Magpies man Chris Waddle.
Newcastle have been a near non-existent force in the transfer window in recent years.

But they’re finally set to break their transfer-fee record with the signing of Atlanta United forward Miguel Almiron.
Almiron will head to St James’ Park for a fee in excess of £21m, and is set to join on Deadline Day.
But Waddle believes Newcastle need more than that.
Waddle spoke about Jordan Lukaku, whose deal with Newcastle fell through because the Belgian failed a medical.
“Lukaku would have been an exciting signing for Newcastle United, but the club can’t afford to take chances using their resources on someone they have question marks over,” he said.
“It’s frustrating for signings to be ruled out on medical grounds but I back Benitez to come up with three or four other players who will suit a club of Newcastle’s stature.
“I hope we will see someone come in through the door before the transfer window closes.”
Newcastle fans have voiced their displeasure for years at owner Mike Ashley not spending big in the transfer market.
Ashley said last year that he was looking to sell the club, but a deal hasn’t been reached with a new buyer as of yet.
Waddle believes that his former club need to strengthen in three positions, if Newcastle are to compete with the big teams again.
“Newcastle need a pacey winger, a creative midfield player and a striker who will reliably score goals if they’re to survive in the Premier League,” he said.
“I like Rondon as he’s a very hard-working team player, but he isn’t going to score the goals that keep Newcastle in the Premier League.
“We need competition in the attacking areas and players who can make things happen in the final third.”
Newcastle fans, however, are in jovial spirits this week, having beaten Manchester City at home on Tuesday - while they’re expected to announce Almiron’s signing today.
