Denis Suarez to Arsenal: David Ornstein gives update on Barcelona ace, another deal eyed
DENIS SUAREZ is close to completing a loan switch from Barcelona to Arsenal.
Arsenal only want Denis Suarez on loan says Guillem Balague
And the Gunners will continue to look to strengthen before Thursday’s transfer deadline with a winger top of Unai Emery’s wish list.
BBC Sport journalist David Ornstein says Arsenal have no plans to sign a defender though.
Suarez will initially join the Gunners on loan but there will be an option to buy in the summer.
The midfielder will not be at the Premier League match with Cardiff tonight though.
Ornstein took to Twitter to give the latest update on Suarez moving to the Emirates.
He posted: “As widely reported, Arsenal close to completing deal for Barcelona midfielder Denis Suarez.
“Not signed yet but 25yo to join on loan + option to buy (reports he’ll also extend #FCB contract to protect value).
“Won’t be at #CCFC game. #AFC continue winger hunt, no plans for defender.”
Arsenal: Emery dodges transfer questions on Denis Suarez
Suarez has fallen down the pecking order at Barcelona this season and has played on just eight occasions.
Transfer expert Guillem Balague has also revealed Emery called the 25-year-old in order to convince him to complete a switch to the Emirates.
He tweeted: “What #AFC get with D. Suarez is a hungry player, quality in the last pass and in quick transitions, personality to demand the ball.
“He improved in his work rate without the ball.
“His main problem has been the lack of confidence of managers. Unai rang him to tell him he trusts him.”
Arsenal take on Cardiff tonight from 7.45pm.
The Gunners currently sit fifth in the Premier League table, three points behind Chelsea in fourth.
