Man Utd news: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is causing problems for Mauricio Pochettino - Burley
OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER’s 100 per cent start as Manchester United interim boss is giving problems to Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino.
That is the opinion of ESPN FC pundit and former Chelsea midfielder Craig Burley.
Solskjaer has won all eight of his games since being appointed by Manchester United in December.
Six of those have come in the Premier League, giving United a big chance of breaking into the top four come the end of the season.
Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino was initially the favourite with the bookies to replace Jose Mourinho as the next permanent United manager.
Solskjaer is giving a problem to Pochettino now as well as he has to I suppose Ed Woodward
However, he has dropped to second favourite behind Solskjaer after the Norwegian’s start.
And Burley says it may get to a point where United no longer want Pochettino, who would then be left in limbo at Tottenham.
“Solskjaer is giving a problem to Pochettino now as well as he has to I suppose Ed Woodward,” Burley said.
“It is still kind of early but it’s eight games, it’s eight wins.
“But we’re seeing the injuries at Tottenham, there’s no doubt United want Pochettino.
“There’s no doubt, no matter what Spurs fans will say, his head will be turned somewhat.
“That doesn’t mean that he would take the job but his head would be turned.
“And all of a sudden, depending what happens at Real Madrid because that’s another club that’s supposedly chasing him, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is coming more to the fore and more to the fore.
“And as they move into this new stadium Tottenham, Pochettino may find himself in a place where he’s not actually up for the Man United job, not in the frame for it, he’s going to have to stick with Tottenham who are not going to spend money and he may even lose players.
“So it is turning.”
Tottenham are in FA Cup action on Sunday as they visit Crystal Palace in the fourth round.
United dumped Arsenal out of the competition on Friday night with a 3-1 win at the Emirates.
