Liverpool transfer news: Luis Suarez hints at Anfield return with Jurgen Klopp claim
LUIS SUAREZ has refused to rule out a potential return to Anfield.
Luis Suarez scores IMPRESSIVE goal during training
The Uruguayan joined Barcelona in July 2014 for £64.98million.
In his final season on Merseyside, he struck 31 Premier League goals as Brendan Rodgers' side came desperately close to winning their first ever Premier League title.
Now there is genuine optimism that Liverpool can end their 29-year wait for top-flight glory.
The Reds currently sit four points clear at the summit and former striker Suarez insists he is keeping an eye on his old team from Catalonia.
“Anyone who has ever played in Liverpool remains connected to the club for a lifetime," he told German football magazine 11FREUNDE.
“The team plays terrific football and I am very interested in how they will do this year. I think we can still be prepared for a lot.”
Suarez then expressed his interest in working under Jurgen Klopp, refusing to rule out a return to Liverpool in the future.
“Currently we work for two different clubs so that's not an issue for me at the moment," he added.
“But sure every player would like to train under Jurgen Klopp.”
Suarez has won three La Liga titles, four Copa del Reys, the Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup since completing the switch to Spain.
The striker turns 32 tomorrow and has fired 15 league goals this season.
Back in October 2016, Suarez had claimed that he wanted to finish his career at the Camp Nou.
“I hope I can finish my career at Barca but I need to be at the highest level to compete,” he said.
“I have fought a lot in my life and, since coming to Barca, I am trying to enjoy it, be happy and win trophies.
“I’m in the best team in the world with the best players.”
But after seeing what Klopp has created in the past few seasons, there is every reason why Suarez maybe open to a return one day.
Liverpool have no game this weekend after being eliminated from the FA Cup by Wolves, they host Leicester in midweek when Premier League action returns.
Klopp was asked about a potential reunion with Philippe Coutinho was is reportedly unhappy in Barcelona.
“Nothing to say. Whatever I say would open more stories and there is no story," the German said.
“That is something I don’t want to talk about. I would not say it is a potential transfer or a likely one.”
