Tottenham star Harry Kane warns they will do damage to Man Utd if three things happen
HARRY KANE reckons Spurs can ‘do damage’ against Manchester United today.
Tottenham vs Man United: Premier League match preview
Tottenham host Manchester United having won their last three fixtures in all competitions, and hope to further enhance their grip on a top four place.
However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s United have won five games in succession and hope to prove a point against Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
United’s form has seen them close the gap to fourth spot to nine points, however, Harry Kane is confident Spurs can claim an important victory.
"United will come and try to play with a lot of energy because they haven't played in midweek, and we have to make sure we match that,” Kane told Sky Sports.
"When we match their intensity, keep the ball and make it hard for them, that's when we can do damage."
Spurs boss Pochettino has been heavily linked to the Manchester United job in recent seasons, something that has been fuelled by Jose Mourinho’s recent sacking and Solskjaer only taking over as caretaker boss.
"We are fully behind the manager, we love the way he works," Kane added.
"We've built a great team and a great unit over the last three or four years.
It's about turning that into a trophy
"It's down to us to continue that and take another step forward. We are still in all the competitions. It's about turning that into a trophy.
“He's a great manager, but he's a great guy off the pitch as well. He treats you like a friend, but he earns that respect from you.
"He's great to talk to, but, most importantly, he is a great coach and we all want to play for him."
Spurs go into the game as favourites having beaten United at home for three years in a row.
Tottenham: Harry Kane on victory against Chelsea
Kane is glad that Spurs have managed to shake the ‘underdog’ tag against United having struggled both home and away to the Red Devils for several seasons before their recent run of wins.
He said: ”Over the last few years, we have turned that around (being the underdog).”
"We were always the ones going into these games as the underdog and now some of these games we are going into as favourites, especially at home.”
Spurs are yet to draw a Premier League game this season and will go temporarily second if they snatch three points this afternoon.
