Tottenham vs Man United: Premier League showdown previewed
The Brazil international, who joined United for £52m in the summer, has struggled to impress at Old Trafford.
Fred missed United’s warm-weather trip to Dubai this week to stay in Manchester with his pregnant wife.
However, according to The Sun, Fred has been putting in work behind the scenes.
They say the midfielder has been training alone in hope of proving his fitness to United interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Fred spent hours at the club’s Carrington training base to focus on his conditioning ahead of United’s trip to Wembley to face Tottenham.
Jose Mourinho signed the midfielder last summer, however, the Special One rarely played Fred.
Mourinho, who was sacked by United last month, claimed Fred was a luxury and he would get regular game time once he’d improved his Old Trafford defence.
Fred has started two of Solskjaer’s five games in charge at United.
Man Utd: Appointing Solskjaer would be 'MISTAKE' says Burley
The Red Devils boast a 100 per cent record under Solskjaer ahead of their Tottenham trip.
Solskjaer has turned things around at United since replacing Mourinho, changing the Red Devils’ style of play.
And the United interim manager says he will urge his players to play attacking football against Spurs.
“You always adapt to any opposition we play,” Solskjaer said.
“You all know the best teams in the league and of course we have to be aware of their strengths.
“But I've been brought up in a way that we need to attack teams.
“I think that's our strength as well, going forward and attacking, as a team when you look at us now the way we've played.
“We're not going to get as many chances to attack against these [Spurs] as we've had before, so we've got to be ready for when we get hold of the ball and play well with it to make sure we use the whole pitch because Wembley is a decent-sized pitch as well.”
