Lazio are said to be interested in signing Zappacosta, who last played for Torino in Italy.
And Alessio, who was Antonio Conte’s right-hand man at Chelsea, has now advised Zappacosta to return to his homeland.
"If you want to play it is right that you come back to Italy," Alessio told RMC Sport, when asked specifically about Zappacosta.
"It is he who must get back into the game if he wants to always be a starter."

Conte and assistant Alessio left Chelsea under something of a cloud as they had finished fifth in the Premier League.
However, Alessio has insisted there were no issues behind the scenes with any of their squad, who they led to FA Cup glory.
"[Arturo] Vidal was the player who gave us the most trouble [at Juventus]," Alessio added.
"While at Chelsea all the players were very responsive in our instructions.
