Mauricio Pochettino: Spurs chief makes January transfer window admission
MAURICIO POCHETTINO has admitted it’s unlikely Tottenham will make any signings in the January transfer window.
Somewhat surprisingly, Pochettino didn’t make any additions to his squad last summer.
His decision not to bring in any new faces appears to have been vindicated, though, as Spurs are currently in third place in the league and through to the last 16 of the Champions League.
And, at this moment in time, Pochettino doesn’t foresee himself bringing in any reinforcements this month.
"I don't believe that we are going to do anything," Pochettino said after Spurs’ demolition job of Tranmere Rovers.
Pochettino is more than content with his squad, who currently trail league leaders Liverpool by six points.
"I'm so happy with my squad,” said the former Southampton and Espanyol manager said.
“Always you can improve, different things you can or not."
Pochettino’s comments on potential signings come as his future with Tottenham continues to be a topic of intense speculation.
I don't believe that we are going to do anything
The Argentine is Manchester United’s no.1 target to succeed their former manager Jose Mourinho, who was relieved of his duties last month.
Pochettino hasn’t ruled out the possibility of replacing the Portuguese, which has only further fuelled talk of him taking charge of the Red Devils.
"What is going to happen in the summer?” the 46-year-old said when asked about his future with Spurs.
“What is going to happen tomorrow? No one knows.
“The most important is to enjoy the journey. I'm so happy here.
"What is going to happen is not in our hands, I mean the decision in another club, we don't know.
"That is not my business and then I will not waste time or energy because my focus and energy is in Tottenham, to prepare the best way (for) the games, and, of course, to respect the club that employs you."
Tottenham return to action tomorrow night, taking on their London rivals Chelsea in the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup.
