Chelsea transfer news: Eden Hazard revelation - Blues ‘expect to get big payment’
CHELSEA will offload Eden Hazard having snared Christian Pulisic.
Chelsea: Pundit discusses Hazard's future with club
That’s according to football author and journalist Jonathan Wilson who reckons the Belgian is a goner.
The Blues snapped up Pulisic this week following a series of dazzling displays in the Bundesliga.
Maurizio Sarri sanctioned a £58million deal for the USA international.
He will remain at Dortmund until the end of the season before heading to west London.
Christian Pulisic was snared by Chelsea
Hazard’s future has been the source of much speculation in recent weeks.
Wilson says he’s surprised Chelsea swooped for Pulisic but thinks the arrival means Hazard will be sold.
"He's not been as influential as Jadon Sancho in that team,” he told the On The Continent Podcast.
"He's only played something like 480 minutes this season, I know he's had a couple of injuries but that's five-and-a-half games, isn't it?
"Is it a lot of money?
“I know he's young and I know he's got great promise.
"I guess Chelsea expect to get a big payment for Hazard and I presume he's seen as a Hazard replacement.
"If he's to play alongside Hazard that seems really strange because you'd have thought the money would have been better spent on a centre forward.
"So yeah, it does seem a lot of money but I don't understand money anymore!”
Hazard, 27, has been in standout form for the Blues this season.
And, with Real still underwhelming in La Liga, Los Blancos remain serious about securing his services.
Chelsea value their prized asset in excess of £150 million.
But despite the mammoth price tag, reports have claimed Florentino Perez is already putting cash aside to sign him in the summer.
Former Stamford Bridge favourite Michael Essien - who also had a stint at Real - says Hazard might want to test himself in the Spanish top tier.
He told Express Sport: “Hazard is one of the best players in the world.
“He’s been playing in the Premier League very well and looks fantastic at the moment.
“The interest of Real Madrid, I only hear from people in the media.
“But I mean when Real Madrid come calling… every player would love to play for them.
“He’s happy at Chelsea though and hopefully we can keep him.”
Hazard has a new contract offer on the table from the west Londoners but is yet to sign.
