Couldn’t care less
Solskjaer has previously managed in the Premier League when joining Cardiff in 2014.
His stint did not last long at the Blue Birds as they were relegated that term.
During his campaign in Wales, Solskjaer was asked about Liverpool’s chances of winning the 2013/14 title.
And Solskjaer simply walked out of the interview!
In footage recently unearthed, a Sky Sports reporter is filmed asking Solskjaer: “You played in title-winning teams at Manchester United. Would you assess Liverpool as a potential title winner this season?”
To which Solskjaer replied: “Couldn’t care less.”
The footage then cuts back to the Sky Sports studio, where Liverpool legend Thompson is left open-mouthed.
Were Solskjaer to get the United job it would likely only be on a short-term basis until the end of the season.
He only recently signed a new contract at Molde extending his stay in Norway until 2021.
Manchester United may be able to agree a fee with Molde, whereby Solskjaer manages the club until May and then heads back to Norway.
The 2019 Eliteserien season starts on March 30, so Solskjaer may only miss six weeks of action.
In the latest update on Tuesday night, it is understood a new manager could be announced before Wednesday.

United had originally given themselves 48 hours to source a replacement.

As it happens, Liverpool are also enjoying their best domestic season since the 2013/14 campaign, when they finished second behind Manchester City.
The Reds currently top the Premier League and are a staggering 19 points ahead of United, who they beat 3-1 on Sunday.
