Liverpool news: Michael Owen says one thing about Mohamed Salah not many people say
LIVERPOOL hero Michael Owen says Mohamed Salah’s strength is not appreciated enough.
Owen was talking at half time of Liverpool’s Champions League clash at home to Napoli on Tuesday.
Salah opened the scoring for the hosts in the must-win Group C match at Anfield.
The Egyptian capitalised on an error from Napoli left-back Mario Rui before shrugging off the challenge of centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly.
Salah finished with aplomb, squeezing the ball through the legs of Arsenal loanee David Ospina in goal.
We’ve spoken a lot about Mo Salah and his finishing skill, his dribbling skills - rarely do people talk about his strength
Owen was impressed with the 26-year-old sensation and says it is time his ability to hold off defenders was given more credit.
“Huge moment, I thought Napoli settled into the game reasonably well in the first sort of 10 minutes,” Owen said on BT Sport.
“But then Liverpool have taken control.
“We’ve spoken a lot about Mo Salah and his finishing skill, his dribbling skills - rarely do people talk about his strength.
“He is as strong as an ox, people bounce off him.
“A couple of mistakes, three mistakes you’d say in the Napoli defence. Rui, then Koulibaly and then the goalkeeper.
“But from an attacking point of view, fantastic.
“He sees the goalkeeper making a little move, hard and low, right in the corner.
“What a priceless goal that could be.”
Salah did his familiar non-celebration after scoring the goal.
It is his fourth goal in four days after netting a hat-trick against Bournemouth on Saturday.
It was Salah's ninth in nine Champions League appearances for Liverpool at Anfield.
Liverpool saw out the game to win 1-0 and qualify for the last 16.
