Liverpool news: Mohamed Salah doubt revealed for Man Utd - Jurgen Klopp must make decision
LIVERPOOL legend Jamie Carragher says there is a question mark over Mohamed Salah’s role against Manchester United this weekend.
Liverpool: Jurgen Klopp praises 'exceptional' Mo Salah
Salah scored a hat-trick in Liverpool’s 4-0 win at Bournemouth on Saturday to take his tally for the season to 10 in the Premier League.
The Egyptian has played in more of a central role in several games so far this season after spending the majority of last term wide right.
However, Carragher highlighted on Monday Night Football how Salah has been moved back to his more familiar position against the so-called top six in the Premier League.
He claims Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp prefers Salah out wide in those matches so he can pack the midfield against better opposition.
That would be the big sort of question mark for Jurgen Klopp going into this game
But the pundit pointed out how last season Manchester United dealt with Salah well when he played on the right.
So he says it will be interesting to see where he is on the pitch at Anfield on Sunday.
“What’s very telling is (Salah) very rarely plays there in what you would call the big games,” Carragher said of Salah playing central on Sky Sports.
“I think Jurgen Klopp maybe wants to go with three in midfield (in those games).
Man City: Liverpool are the BETTER side says Guardiola
“I would imagine that is the obvious reason.
“Man United fall into that category of one of the big sides.
"Obviously it’s not going great for them but it’s Man United coming to Anfield.
“If you actually think of last season, Man United coped with Salah really well.
“If you remember Ashley Young, as a right-footed player at left-back you naturally tuck in because you’re right footed and that’s the space Salah likes.
“It might be interesting if this is the first so-called big game where Salah actually plays through the middle.
“That would be the big sort of question mark for Jurgen Klopp going into this game, looking at what United did last season.”
