Arsenal news: Unai Emery has one reason for allowing Mesut Ozil January transfer exit
ARSENAL boss Unai Emery is happy for Mesut Ozil to be sold in January for one reason, it has been claimed.
Arsenal manager Emery has dropped Ozil in recent times, with the Germany international no longer a guaranteed starter over at the Emirates Stadium.
The playmaker only signed a new contract extension over in north London earlier this year but, since then, has done little to justify his huge £300,000-a-week wages.
Arsenal are reportedly ready to cut Ozil loose with Inter Milan leading the charge to sign him. Manchester United, given how the 30-year-old once flourished under Jose Mourinho, have also been tentatively linked.
And The Sun say Emery himself is happy to wave goodbye to the German when the transfer window reopens in January.
Ozil has always adopted a laid-back style of play.
That worked well at Real Madrid but, for Arsenal, his attitude has lead to a split among both pundits and supporters.
The Sun say, however, that Emery feels Ozil does not pull his weight enough and is unhappy at his ‘general attitude’.
And, given the Gunners are aiming to finish in the top four for the first time in three years, he cannot afford any passengers on that journey.
Meanwhile, former Premier League hitman Dimitar Berbatov has spoken out on Ozil’s future.
And the ex-Manchester United, Tottenham and Fulham star has told the German to obey his manager - or face the consequences.
“Ozil is a great player,” the former Bulgaria striker said on Sky Sports’ Goals on Sunday show.
“Sometimes you think is the football they’re playing effecting this great guy, great player? How do you fix that?
“He is still a great player.
Arsenal can NOT afford Mesut Ozil with no return says Wright
“When you don’t fit the system what do you do? You don’t play. How is that good for anyone?
“I love watching him but football changes.
“You need to obey what your manager says. ‘
“f you’re smart you can press and help the team press. It’s not too difficult. So I don’t think it is a big problem for him.”
