Chelsea news: Joe Cole singles out TWO Blues players during Tottenham clash
CHELSEA legend Joe Cole criticised two players from his former club during Saturday’s Premier League clash against Tottenham.
Chelsea went into the match at Wembley still unbeaten in league and cup this season.
However, within just eight minutes they were behind when Dele Alli flicked on a menacing Christian Eriksen free kick and opened the scoring for Tottenham.
And Cole was not impressed with the lack of organisation at the back in the early stages, especially from David Luiz.
“First 10 minutes of the game, you have to manage the game,” Cole said at half time on BT Sport.
That from Luiz is disappointing because he’s one of the senior players. He should be calling people, talking to people, getting us into shape
“What Chelsea didn’t do well was that they got ragged, they didn’t quieten the crowd, and Tottenham effectively could have won the game in the first 10 minutes.
“That from Luiz is disappointing because he’s one of the senior players.
“He should be calling people, talking to people, getting us into shape, things like that.
“Just a disappointing first 10 minutes.”
Tottenham easily could have extended their advantage before they finally did net their second.
Harry Kane was given far too much space outside the box before firing into the bottom corner.
And this time Cole criticised Antonio Rudiger for failing to close down Kane quick enough.
“This goes on from the first goal, just a little bit lackadaisical,” he continued.
“Rudiger I think has had an excellent season, he just doesn’t get tight.
“Alarm bells have got to be ringing when Harry Kane can get the ball, turn and hit a shot from 25 yards.
“He’s just a bit slow to get out to him, no one there. Four, five, six touches and he hits a shot.
“That’s one of the top goalscorers in world football.”
