Newcastle team news vs Burnley: Predicted line up – Shelvey, Lascelles, Dummett OUT?
NEWCASTLE host Burnley at St James' Park on Monday Night Football – who will start?
Newcastle are on the hunt for their third successive win when they face Burnley after finally clicking into gear in 2018/19.
The Magpies toppled Watford and Bournemouth at St James' Park and will now hope to gain maximum points against Sean Dyche's men.
However, Rafael Benitez must negotiate several injury issues ahead of the clash with Jonjo Shelvey, Jamaal Lascelles and Paul Dummett all suffering problems.
The Newcastle boss said: “Dummett is not available. His hamstring is being treated and we will not put a time on his return yet.
“He’s not available. He will be treated and we will see how he is after this game."
Benitez was less definitive on Lascelles and Shelvey's participation against Burnley.
"Shelvey and Lascelles have two more training sessions to prove fitness," he said.
“Lascelles and Shelvey have not had a full training session yet so we will wait and see on them.”
Neither player is expected to start during the Monday night clash, with Ki Sung-Yeung and Fabian Schar primed to replace them.
Yoshinori Muto has been struggled with a calf injury, but may also be ruled out of the clash on paternity leave.
Salomon Rondon will lead the line and will be hoping to replicate his big display against Bournemouth before the international break.
