Belgium team news: Predicted Belgium line up vs Iceland – Will Lukaku and Hazard play?
BELGIUM manager Roberto Martinez could have both Romelu Lukaku and Eden Hazard available for the upcoming Nations League clash with Iceland on Thursday (7.45pm).
Belgium are looking to maintain their perfect Nations League record when they host Iceland in Brussels.
Roberto Martinez’s side have won both their matches in the competition so far, scoring five goals and conceding just one.
And now the Red Devils are set to have both Romelu Lukaku and Eden Hazard available as the duo make their recoveries from injury.
Lukaku was dropped for Manchester United’s 2-1 win over Everton before missing the trips to Bournemouth and Juventus with a thigh problem.
The out-of-form frontman, who has not scored in his past 10 appearances for United, returned to action as a substitute against Manchester City last weekend.
And now the 25-year-old has been called up for the clash with Iceland and will hope to rediscover his goalscoring form – although he may have to be content with a place on the bench behind Michy Batshuayi.
Meanwhile, Hazard has been struggling with a back injury that saw him miss three matches before a cameo appearance against Crystal Palace.
The 27-year-old then played an hour of Chelsea’s 1-0 win over BATE Borisov before completing the full 90 minutes against Everton last weekend.
Hazard is expected to come into the starting XI on the left side of attack, with Dries Mertens on the opposite flank.
Martinez will have to shuffle his defence with Thomas Vermaelen and Jan Vertonghen both out, while Marouane Fellaini is also struggling for fitness and will not feature.
Vincent Kompany will start in a back three alongside Toby Alderweireld with one of either Dedryck Boyata or Jason Denayer completing the rearguard.
Thomas Meunier and Yannick Carrasco should continue at full-back while Axel Witsel and Youri Tielemans are the expected partnership in central midfield.
