Man Utd news: Sky Sports pundit names FIVE players who are to blame for United’s season
JOSE MOURINHO is at a loss at how poor his Manchester United team have performed at stages this season.
Mourinho: Man United 'made mistakes' against Man City
That is according to Sky Sports pundit and former England defender Stuart Pearce.
Pearce has also revealed a list of five Manchester United players he believes are underperforming.
United are currently eighth in the Premier League table, already suffering four defeats from their opening 12 games.
The latest loss came on Sunday as they went down 3-1 at rivals and title favourites Manchester City.
He’s almost scratching his head to realise how poor is the play of his team
Pearce admits Jose Mourinho’s side have no chance of winning the league this season.
And he says the Portuguese has cut a confused figure at times on the touchline this term.
Pearce says the five players most culpable are goalkeeper David De Gea, midfielder Paul Pogba and forwards Romelu Lukaku, Alexis Sanchez and Marcus Rashford.
“I think we realised, and this was probably the final nail in their chances of winning the title,” Pearce said on The Debate.
“I think all of us think it’s a Manchester City/Liverpool title to be won or lost, whichever way you look at it.
“For United, there’s too many players at this moment in time, and I’ve made a little list here, you tell me how many of these are playing to the best of their ability.
“De Gea, Pogba, Rashford, Sanchez, Lukaku, let alone the back four that have shipped goals.
“I’ve seen Jose’s face on the edge of the pitch, maybe at Bournemouth in the first half where they’re letting goals in.
“He’s almost scratching his head to realise how poor is the play of his team. You don’t coach that.
“Maybe it comes down to a lack of leadership potentially amongst the group.”
After the international break Manchester United face Crystal Palace at home on Saturday November 24.
Palace have just won win all season in the league.
