Real Madrid team news: Predicted Real Madrid line up vs Celta Vigo – Three stars doubtful
REAL MADRID are expected to be without a number of first-team stars when they return to La Liga action against Celta Vigo on Sunday (7.45pm).
Real Madrid are back in La Liga action this week as they look to climb the table after a torrid start to the season.
Caretaker manager Santiago Solari has made an instant impression at the Bernabeu since taking over from Julen Lopetegui, winning all three of his matches in charge so far.
However, Los Blancos are still languishing down in sixth and sit seven points off table-topping Barcelona.
Real come into their clash with Celta Vigo on the back of a thumping 5-0 win over Viktoria Plzen in midweek but could remain without several key players due to injury.
Dani Carvajal and Raphael Varane are both nearing a return to full fitness but were not included in the latest Champions League squad and may not be risked ahead of the international break.
Meanwhile, Marcelo is in contention to feature but Solari has proved he is not inclined to rush his big-name players back too soon.
Striker Mariano and young centre-back Jesus Vallejo are also reportedly making good progress with their recoveries, but it would not be a surprise to see a similar squad to the one named on Wednesday.
This means Alvaro Odriozola is set to continue at right-back and Nacho would start alongside Sergio Ramos in central defence.
La Castilla graduate Sergio Reguilon could therefore retain his place at left-back, while it remains to be seen whether Solari will rotate his goalkeepers or stick with Thibaut Courtois.
Luka Modric was rested against Plzen but will return in midfield with Dani Ceballos dropping out.
Marco Asensio or Isco should be recalled in attack to line up alongside Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema, who scored twice against the Czech outfit.
Celta Vigo come into the match on a three-game unbeaten run but are mired in mid table and have managed just three wins all season so far.
Real Madrid predicted line-up vs Celta Vigo
(4-3-3) Courtois; Odriozola, Nacho, Ramos, Reguilon; Casemiro, Modric, Kroos; Bale, Asensio, Benzema
