Everton team news: Predicted Everton line up vs Chelsea – Mina to start, Baines update
EVERTON are expected to hand Yerry Mina his full debut against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday (2.15pm).
Everton manager Marco Silva is set to hand summer signing Yerry Mina his full competitive debut when the Toffees take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
The Colombian centre-back made a substitute appearance last weekend against Brighton then played the full 90 minutes in a friendly against Gor Mahia on Tuesday.
Mina was involved in the opening two goals during the 4-0 win over the Kenyan champions and received some valuable minutes ahead of his expected first Premier League start.
The 24-year-old is likely to line up alongside Michael Keane in central defence with Kurt Zouma ineligible against his parent club.
Meanwhile, Leighton Baines was a late withdrawal from the starting line-up set to play at Goodison Park in midweek.
Everton have not released an update on the reason for this change which saw Beni Baningime come into the XI.
However, reports on social media clim the left-back was seen wearing his tracksuit getting into his car 20 minutes before kick-off, suggesting the problem was not to do with Baines’ fitness.
Regardless, Lucas Digne is still expected to start against Chelsea having impressed since his arrival from Barcelona.
Seamus Coleman should line up on the other side of defence while Andre Gomes will partner Idrissa Gueye in midfield.
Richarlison has been stationed as a lone striker in recent weeks ahead of an attacking trio featuring Theo Walcott, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Bernard.
However, young winger Ademola Lookman is pushing for a start and could come in at the expense of either Walcott or Bernard.
Finally, Silva will have been pleased to see James McCarthy feature on Tuesday as he continues his recovery from a horrific leg break, although the Irish midfielder is still short of match fitness.
Everton predicted line-up vs Chelsea
(4-2-3-1) Pickford; Coleman, Keane, Mina, Digne; Gueye, Gomes; Walcott, Sigurdsson, Bernard; Richarlison
