And Nicol claims Saturday’s match proved he and many other doubters wrong about Arsenal.
“One hundred per cent, and I was one of those people,” he told ESPN FC.
“I wasn’t convinced but having watched them stifle Liverpool and actually look better, certainly going forward.
“We’re always talking about how great Liverpool look going forward with the front three.
“Well that front three was not at their best again and Arsenal definitely caused Liverpool problems at the back.
“But fortunately, Liverpool do have a good defence.
“The chances Liverpool gave Arsenal were tough ones.

Arsenal will look to make it 15 games unbeaten when they host Sporting Lisbon in the Europa League on Thursday.
Emery's side have nine points from their three games so far in the competition.
