Man Utd SHOCK: Club chiefs considering Antonio Conte appointment NOW in Jose Mourinho blow
MANCHESTER UNITED could sack Jose Mourinho to get Antonio Conte in IMMEDIATELY, it has sensationally been claimed.
Manchester United boss Mourinho has been under-fire throughout this season with the club struggling for lift-off in the Premier League, winning just five of their first 10 games to sit eighth in the table.
Reports last month claimed he would be sacked regardless of the outcome of a Premier League clash with Newcastle.
Manchester United won 3-2 against Rafa Benitez’s side with Alexis Sanchez scoring a late winner after previous strikes from Juan Mata and Anthony Martial.
That, as things stand, looks to be a turning point.
Mourinho has overseen an impressive 2-2 draw against Chelsea, where they only missed out on victory because of Ross Barkley’s dramatic late equaliser.
United have also beaten Everton 2-1 with Martial and Paul Pogba on target.
Antonio Conte, meanwhile, has been heavily tipped for the Real Madrid job.
The former Chelsea boss, who left his post as manager back in the summer, would reportedly prefer to manage United though.
And Caught Offside have now sensationally claimed key figures are pondering whether to axe Mourinho for Conte.
The Italian, despite enduring a mixed time of things at Chelsea, is widely regarded as one of the world’s best managers.
At Juventus, he helped them regain their position at the summit of Serie A with three consecutive Scudetto triumphs.
And he also won the Premier League and FA Cup with Chelsea.
Caught Offside say United chiefs, a section of them at least, are contemplating whether to axe Mourinho for Conte.
They have reportedly been informed of the Italian’s desire to take over at Old Trafford.
But what the United bigwigs decides to do remains to be seen.
Some other members are also unsure whether he would represent a ‘breakaway’ from the Mourinho era.
Conte replacing Mourinho would no doubt be a bitter blow for the 55-year-old.
The duo have a strained relationship, exchanging barbs with each other repeatedly over the last two years.
