Chelsea news: ‘Get yourself out’ - star told to leave because of Maurizio Sarri
CHELSEA midfielder Cesc Fabregas must leave the club because he does not fit into Maurizio Sarri’s system at Stamford Bridge.
That is the verdict of former England and Arsenal striker turned pundit Paul Mariner.
Fabregas has made just five appearances for Chelsea under Sarri this season.
His outings have been restricted to the cup competitions and he is yet to feature in the Premier League.
The Spaniard was a regular under Antonio Conte last season, scoring three goals in 49 appearances.
I think the Premier League is a little bit too much for him, especially the way Sarri plays
However, Mariner believes age is catching up with the 31-year-old.
And he claims the former Arsenal star will not break into Sarri’s midfield on a regular basis.
“The thing is with Cesc, it catches up with all of us,” Mariner told ESPN FC.
“Look, when he first came into the Arsenal side early on he was an amazing footballer.
“He’s had an incredible career, his passing, his vision on the ball is absolutely second to none.
“I think the Premier League is a little bit too much for him, especially the way Sarri plays.
“Can they generate some money? Yes they can.
“Cesc, get yourself out there mate, get yourself on the go.”
Fabregas joined Chelsea from Barcelona in 2014 and has won two Premier League titles, an FA Cup and a League Cup in his time in west London.
He has scored 21 goals for the Blues in 186 appearances.
The Spain World Cup winner’s contract at Chelsea runs out next summer.
Chelsea will look to continue their unbeaten start in the Premier League under Sarri when they face Burnley tomorrow (1.30pm).
