Liverpool news: Xherdan Shaqiri singled out after ‘tremendous’ Mohamed Salah goal
LIVERPOOL star Mohamed Salah ended his four-game goalless run against Huddersfield today - but it was not just him earning the praise.
Salah’s form so far this season has been questioned after a sensational debut campaign at Liverpool where he scored 44 goals.
The Egyptian had scored just three goals in his 11 appearances in all competitions this term before this evening’s match in West Yorkshire.
However, it took him just 24 minutes to find the back of the net to put unbeaten Liverpool into the lead.
Xherdan Shaqiri was handed a start due to the absence of Sadio Mane due to injury.

It’s an important goal and it’s a lovely take from Shaqiri
And the Switzerland international, who joined Liverpool from Stoke in the summer, provided the assist for Salah.
Shaqiri collected the ball from right-back Joe Gomez, turned, run into space and fed Salah with a beautifully weighted pass.
Salah did the rest with a smart right-footed finish across Huddersfield keeper Jonas Lossl.
And former Celtic striker Chris Sutton, who was working as a co-commentator on the game, was full of praise for Salah and the provider Shaqiri.
“I’ll tell you what, this is a brilliant finish,” he said on BT Sport.
“A good run, it’s well worked. Huddersfield have looked really solid up until now.
“But it’s an important goal and it’s a lovely take from Shaqiri.
“Shaqiri, in-between the lines, half turns, the take, and then the run from Salah.
“I think (Christopher) Schindler should do better, put him under more pressure.
“But into the far corner, it’s a bit of a toe-poke from Mo Salah.
“Shaqiri sees the run, the weight of pass, Salah doesn’t break stride.
“It’s a tremendous finish.”
Liverpool were looking to go level on points with Manchester City at the top of the table after Pep Guardiola's side beat Burnley 5-0 earlier today.
