Man Utd news: What Liverpool and Man City REALLY think about Red Devils - Scholes
MANCHESTER UNITED are probably seen as a bit of a laughing stock by Liverpool and Manchester City.
That is the view of Paul Scholes, who was accustomed to success during his decorated playing spell for Manchester United.
Although Jose Mourinho lifted the Europa League and Carabao Cup in his first season in charge of United, his side have been in the shadows of Manchester City.
Liverpool, meanwhile, have made great strides under Jurgen Klopp and reached the Champions League final against Real Madrid which they lost 3-1.
United haven’t won the Premier League title since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013.
While the Red Devils boast a strong squad, their demise has been well documented.
And Scholes thinks United have missed a trick and are probably the butt of all jokes for those at Liverpool and City.
When asked for his thoughts about how United conquered England and Europe 10 years ago, Scholes told ESPN: “And we were watching Liverpool and City from afar and smirking as they changed managers and players every year, never getting anything right.
“It feels like we have turned into a Liverpool or a Man City.
“I feel like people at Liverpool and Man City are looking at us and laughing like we did at them many years ago.
“But if you look across the road, they're doing everything right.
“They've brought the best manager in the world in.
“They've brought staff in to be responsible for signing players. They have a set way of playing every week.
“Everything becomes easy for them. It becomes easy for the scout who knows that they play 4-3-3 and knows the positions of players and what they're looking to sign.
“It's virtually impossible for a chief scout at Man United to do the same.
“Whether Jose has a clear way in the future, I don't know because the form is that bad.
“United are all over the place.”
Mourinho’s men return to action away to Chelsea on Saturday (12.30pm).
