David De Gea BLASTED by Terry Butcher as England stun Man Utd keeper
DAVID DE GEA has been mocked by England great Terry Butcher for Spain’s first-half performance against the Three Lions.
De Gea did not make a save in the opening 45 minutes in Seville as England went in at the break 3-0 up.
Manchester United goalkeeper De Gea only made three saves during the World Cup in Russia this summer.
And England legend Butcher conceded the shot-stopper was powerless to prevent the onslaught.
“What a treat. It is raining goals,” he said on BBC 5Live.
I don’t think David de Gea has had a save to make
“I don’t think David de Gea has had a save to make but he’s picked it out of the net three times.
“You talk about England being ruthless but this is sensational stuff.
“We thought coming here tonight that they might get drubbed by three or more.”
Two goals from Raheem Sterling either side of a Marcus Rashford strike had England flying at half time.
Sterling’s opener found the top corner of the net on 16 minutes before Rashford clipped past his Manchester United team-mate De Gea for 2-0.
Sterling then tapped home the third, finishing off a lovely move that saw England go over the top of Spain’s back line.
Butcher said of the first half: “Full praise to Gareth Southgate. He has got his team organised.
“Eric Dier is the one at the point of the three in midfield, that pushes on to Sergio Busquets.
"The three in front are the key to England winning the ball back and breaking.
“Harry Kane has led the line well and alongside him Raheem Sterling and Marcus Rashford have been sensational.”
