Liverpool news: This Premier League achievement means NOTHING to Jurgen Klopp
LIVERPOOL boss Jurgen Klopp believes finishing second in the Premier League is ‘nothing’.
Alexander-Arnold: Liverpool are going to win as much as we can
The Reds currently sit joint-top of the table on 20 points alongside Manchester City and Chelsea.
Liverpool have never won the Premier League though finished second in 2002, 2009 and 2014.
Klopp led the Reds to fourth last season while they also reached the final of the Champions League.
The Anfield outfit have been tipped to run reigning champions Manchester City close this term.
But Klopp admits that only a title win will satisfy him.
“In most sports, coming second in the Olympics you come home with a silver medal,” said Klopp.
“In football, it’s nothing. And it’s nothing for me as well. I want to win it, and I know that’s a responsibility.
“I put all I have, knowledge, passion, heart, experience, I throw everything into the club 100 per cent. I don’t keep anything back.
“It should work, actually, at one point. But until then, we should have a really good time.”
Liverpool are unbeaten in the Premier League this season, having won six of their eight games.
Their only dropped points have come against title rivals City and Chelsea.
And Liverpool hero Robbie Fowler believes Klopp is not happy with his team’s performances so far.
“Look, I don’t think they’re playing as well as what we as fans and I think Jurgen the manager wants,” Fowler told Sky Sports News.
“But what you can’t argue with is the points on the board.
“Joint top, I think at the start of the season you would have taken that all day long.
“They’re unbeaten in the league so I think it’s been great.
“It’s a long, long way to go so I don’t think anyone is getting too carried away.
“But he’s certainly got the players fired up and ready for the challenge.”
