Germany team news: Predicted Nations League line up vs Netherlands – exiled star to return
GERMANY face the Netherlands in a big Nations League showdown tonight – with Leroy Sane set to be involved.
Germany head into their Nations League encounter against the Netherlands with several injury problems which could pave the way for a star man to return.
Leroy Sane was controversially dropped from Joachim Low's squad for the 2018 World Cup, and only made a seven-minute cameo in the last international break.
However, the Manchester City star could return to the starting line-up following the withdrawal of five players from the squad through injury.
Marco Reus is the biggest drop-out and Sane is likely to fill his shoes for the Nations League clash.
An alternative would be to shift Julian Draxler out to the left wing and bring Julian Brandt into the side, but Sane would be hugely disappointed to miss out given his position.
Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger, Kevin Trapp and Leon Goretzka have also dropped out of the squad following injuries.
Emre Can, Serge Gnabry and Bernd Leno are among the replacements called up to the squad and will be hoping to take full advantage.
Arsenal stopper Leno faces a huge fight for game time with Manuel Neuer and Marc-Andre ter Stegen ahead of him in the pecking order.
Low is under pressure to restore his team to the top of world football following a disastrous time at Russia 2018.
Germany were toppled in the group stage, while Mesut Ozil retired from international football citing 'racism and disrespect' for his decision.
Predicted Germany team vs Netherlands
(4-2-3-1) Neuer; Kimmich, Boateng, Hummels, Hector; Kroos, Rudy; Muller, Draxler, Sane; Werner.
