Man Utd news: Jose Mourinho ordered to issue Paul Pogba apology after Newcastle win
MANCHESTER UNITED boss Jose Mourinho should apologise to Paul Pogba following his stunning display against Newcastle, says Garth Crooks.
Manchester United star Pogba saved Mourinho’s job by inspiring the Red Devils’ stunning 3-2 win over Newcastle at Old Trafford on Saturday.
Mourinho found himself the source of sack reports before the game and, when Newcastle raced into a 2-0 lead, a parting of the ways looked on the cards.
Pogba, however, stepped it up. The Manchester United midfielder starred as Juan Mata, Anthony Martial and Alexis Sanchez all produced the goods.
Crooks thinks Mourinho owes his job to the World Cup winner.
And he also reckons the United boss should apologise for stripping Pogba of the vice-captaincy.
“Jose Mourinho owes Paul Pogba an apology,” he wrote in his BBC column.
“What a second-half performance by the France international.
“He was the only Manchester United player who had showed any bottle in a team who, at one stage, became frightened of their own shadows against Newcastle.
“The tension at Old Trafford has largely been inflicted by their own manager.
“Fortunately Paul Pogba, oblivious to Mourinho’s continual rantings, took the game by the scruff of the neck, probing and driving his team to victory.
“Not only did the World Cup winner save United against Newcastle, he might have saved Mourinho’s job for now.
“Many a player would have let Mourinho sink.”
Man United: Pogba AVOIDS Mourinho in training
Fresh revelations from United’s Newcastle win have emerged.
The Sun claim that Pogba actually told Mourinho which substitutions to make.
It is claimed he recommended the introduction of Marouane Fellaini.
And that worked a treat with United improving when the Belgian came on the pitch.
