Jose Mourinho: Man Utd boss WILL be sacked in near future - pundit claim
JOSE MOURINHO will not turn the tide at Manchester United this season due to the negative atmosphere he has created, claims Kevin Kilbane.
The Red Devils have endured a tough start to the season, with Mourinho clashing with senior players on and off the pitch.
The Manchester United boss could be sacked this weekend should his side lose to Newcastle, despite the club denying such claims.
Mourinho will be hoping he is given more time at Old Trafford this season.
But BBC Sport pundit Kilbane believes the Portuguese cannot turn things around at the club due to the negative atmosphere he has caused in recent weeks.
That negativity has set in now and now it's set in I don't think its going to turn.
"I don't think he will," he said on Football Focus.
"That negativity has set in now and now it's set in I don't think its going to turn.
"I watched them against Valencia in midweek and they actually started for the first five minutes with a high tempo.
"How you would expect a side to start a Champions League game.
"But that soon fizzled out after five minutes and they offered very little throughout the game."
More pressure was placed on Mourinho after United slumped to a disappointing 3-1 defeat against West Ham last Saturday.
And Kilbane believes United's team selection proves the former Chelsea boss is clutching at straws.
"The West Ham one last week was the more baffling one for me," he added.
"The team that he picked - you look at that team and think 'is he going to play players out of position?'
"As it turned out, he did.
"And that's when you're clutching I think.
"That's why ultimately I don't think he'll turn it around."
