Wenger is here to stay
ARSENAL are hoping that Arsene Wenger will stay beyond his current contract, which expires in 2011. Wenger sparked speculation over his future by saying the project at Real Madrid under presidential candidate Florentino Perez would be “interesting”.
But Gunners’ chief executive Ivan Gazidis said: “He is clearly staying, we’ve said that, he said that. There’s no additional incentive that he needs.
“It does not surprise me that clubs like Real Madrid would be interested in Arsene Wenger. He would be the most in-demand manager internationally in the game.”
Defender William Gallas has been linked with Paris St-Germain. Arsenal could use the money to pursue a long-term target from PSG, defender Mamadou Sakho.
