Liverpool news: Jamie Carragher admits he was WRONG about star - ‘I had written him off’
LIVERPOOL striker Daniel Sturridge has proved Jamie Carragher wrong with his form so far this season.
Daniel Sturridge was 'decisive' against Chelsea says Klopp
Sturridge’s Liverpool career has looked in doubt for some time after a string of injuries.
He went on loan to West Brom for the second half of last season but could not keep the Baggies in the Premier League.
But this term he has returned to Anfield and taken the opportunities he has had, scoring four goals in seven appearances.
The 29-year-old has netted on both of his starts and scored a stunning late equaliser in the 1-1 draw against Chelsea last Saturday.
I maybe had written the lad off too early in terms of his Liverpool career
Carragher says it is vital for Liverpool’s back-up forwards to be in good goalscoring form.
And he admits he was wrong to write Sturridge’s Reds career off.
“With the front three we know Liverpool score goals,” Carragher said on Sky Sports.
“But the midfield three, certainly those playing at the moment, don’t get a lot of goals.
“So the back-up players when they come onto the pitch they’ve got to get goals.
“That’s what they’ve started doing and brilliant from Daniel Sturridge.
“I maybe had written the lad off too early in terms of his Liverpool career.
“I think going to West Brom was a big turning point for him.

“I think he came back realising ‘I’m happy to be a squad player at Liverpool’.”
Sturridge is likely to be part of the Liverpool squad for Wednesday's Champions League clash at Napoli (8pm).
Jurgen Klopp's side beat Paris Saint-Germain 3-2 in their opening group game two weeks ago.
Napoli were held to a goalless draw by Red Star Belgrade in their first game in Group C.
