Man Utd news: Alexis Sanchez will REGRET leaving Arsenal - Paul Ince
MANCHESTER UNITED superstar Alexis Sanchez will REGRET leaving Arsenal.
Mourinho not to blame for Sanchez poor form says Ray Parlour
That’s according to Paul Ince who says the Chile international is struggling with life at Old Trafford.
Sanchez was involved in a protracted contract saga with the Gunners 12 months ago.
The north Londoners eventually agreed a Henrikh Mkhitaryan swap deal with Sanchez’s contract running down.
Manchester City had been sniffing around but a deal was done with their arch rivals.
Alexis Sanchez will regret not going to Manchester City
Since moving to the Theatre of Dreams, Sanchez has made little impact though.
Ince reckons the 29-year-old in hindsight would heave preferred to stay at the Emirates or move to City.
He told Paddy Power: “When Alexis Sanchez first went to Manchester United, it was obvious he was going to a team that doesn’t suit the way he plays.
“The style of play is completely different.
“I see people saying that he doesn’t try or doesn’t work hard enough, and I’m not having that.
“He works as hard as he can, but when the way you play just doesn’t fit into a team, what else can you do?
“Alexis Sanchez will regret not going to Manchester City.
“If he’d gone there, it would have been the absolute best move for him.
“A side with free-flowing, attacking football, where you’re encouraged to get the ball forward.
“Instead he’s at Old Trafford, where both the football and the mood around the club is negative.
“I don’t think you can blame him for that atmosphere.
“He went to a team fraught with issues, and I wouldn’t be shocked if he was kicking himself for not only not going to Man City, but also for leaving Arsenal.
“It’s no surprise he’s not hit the ground running.”
Manchester United are currently in crisis mode.
They were dumped out of the EFL Cup to Derby on penalties and Mourinho has been involved in a high-profile spat with Paul Pogba.
Pogba was dropped for the cup clash against the Rams.
Mourinho has also stripped the France international of the vice captaincy.
Yesterday, during training at Manchester United’s Carrington complex, Pogba was seen glaring at his manager when he jogged onto the field.
Mourinho appeared to rile Pogba which resulted in the midfielder giving his manager an icy stare.
