PAOK vs Chelsea: Glenn Hoddle criticises Maurizio Sarri - he made three mistakes
CHELSEA’s starting XI for their Europa League clash against PAOK tonight has frustrated their former manager Glenn Hoddle.
Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri made five changes from the 4-1 Premier League win over Cardiff on Saturday.
Star forward Eden Hazard has been rested completely, with the likes of Olivier Guroud and Cesar Azpilicueta dropping to the bench.
But Hoddle wanted to see Sarri blood more of his youngsters in the Europa League.
BT Sport host Jake Humphrey said to Hoddle: “It’s great for us, it’s great for us sitting here on a Thursday that he takes this competition seriously and we get the big names playing, but has he not missed a trick though?

I am concerned that these young, good players are not going to get enough football, I really am
“By not calling up some of his younger British players, (Ethan) Ampadu, (Ruben) Loftus-Cheek, (Callum) Hudson-Odoi.”
Hoddle said Sarri did miss a trick not playing the young trio in the Europa League opener and reckons they will have to go out on loan to gain first-team experience.
In response to Humphrey, Hoddle said: “Yeah I would prefer that, being English and wanting these youngsters to get the opportunities they’re not going to get in the Premier League at the moment, certainly at Chelsea. It does concern me.
“It’s good to see Ross Barkley in there, I think he’s the one he’s put his hat on.
“He’s the one who plays in the Premier League, he’s the one that comes on from the bench. I think he’s going to say ‘well, show me what you’ve got’.
“I am concerned that these young, good players are not going to get enough football, I really am.
“Unfortunately for Chelsea, or for those kids, if they stay they’re not going to get game time. They need to get away.
“He’s (Loftus-Cheek) round about 23 years of age, Loftus-Cheek.
"He’s got to be playing week in and week out.
“Young Hudson-Ododi, Ampadu, they’ve got real talent. How are they going to break in?
“I think they’re going to have to go on loan.”
