Celtic team news: Predicted Celtic line up vs Rosenborg – Key defender among three doubts
CELTIC may be forced to shuffle their squad ahead of the Hoops' opening Europa League group stage match against Rosenborg.
Celtic could be forced into a defensive reshuffle with key centre-back Kristoffer Ajer potentially ruled out of Thursday’s clash with Rosenborg.
The Norwegian defender is a major doubt after picking up a virus and faces a race to be fit in time for the Europa League Group B match at Celtic Park.
Fellow centre-back Jozo Simunovic is also sidelined with a knee injury, meaning manager Brendan Rodgers could turn to 23-year-old Jack Hendry.
The Scottish youngster has only just returned from his own knee problems but could slot in alongside Dedryck Boyata after impressing following his arrival from Dundee last season.
Nir Britton is also a doubt for the Hoops but Rodgers is unlikely to make wholesale changes from the side which drew with St Mirren at the weekend.
Olivier Ntcham was sent off during the 0-0 stalemate but is available in Europe and should feature alongside Scott Brown.
Celtic are currently unbeaten in six matches after losing to AEK Athens in the Champions League play-off but are five points off the pace in the Scottish Premiership.
They have won five of their eight previous meetings with Rosenborg, including Champions League qualifier victories over the Norwegian outfit twice in the last three years.
However, Rodgers side are without a home win in 10 European group stage fixtures.
Speaking ahead of tomorrow’s clash, the Celtic manager said: "There is always excitement going into the European competitions and this is no different.
"Rosenborg come into the game in really good form.
"Their system's very clear, it's very defined. They've got good balance in their team, clear identity, very structured, but also they've got very good individual players."
