ROBERTO FIRMINO pulled out a superb celebration mocking his recent eye injury after scoring the winner in Liverpool’s victory over Paris Saint-Germain.
Jurgen Klopp praises Liverpool after win against PSG
Liverpool got their Champions League campaign off to a blistering start with a thrilling 3-2 win over Paris Saint-Germain at Anfield.
Daniel Sturridge opened the scoring for the home side with a close-range header before James Milner doubled the lead from the penalty spot.
PSG hit back through Thomas Meunier then Kylian Mbappe equalised with just minutes remaining but there was still time for Firmino to step off the bench and score the winner.
The Brazilian striker used his wild celebration to make light of a recent eye injury that prevented him from starting the group stage match.
Firmino had been a doubt for the clash after suffering a gruesome injury against Tottenham on Saturday.
The 26-year-old was involved in a tussle with Spurs defender Jan Vertonghen in which the Belgian’s finger went deep in Firmino’s eye socket.
The Liverpool ace was eventually passed fit to feature but only made the bench as Jurgen Klopp opted for Sturridge up front.
Firmino was eventually introduced after 72 minutes and made a telling contribution with a fierce drive across goalkeeper Alphonse Areola in injury time.
The striker immediately covered his injured eye as he made light of his recent fitness problems in front of the delirious Liverpool fans.
Firmino then turned to enjoy the moment with his fellow Reds before Sadio Mane continued his trend of copying his team-mates celebrations.
Speaking after the game, Firmino’s team-mate Milner said: "I can't say enough good things about Bobby.
“To come off the bench after his injury at the weekend is incredible really."
