Man Utd news: Jose Mourinho wants Ed Woodward to change mind on one controversial transfer
MANCHESTER UNITED boss Jose Mourinho reportedly wants Ed Woodward to change his mind on signing Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan.
Manchester United manager Mourinho wanted Woodward to fork out for Inter Milan winger Perisic back in the summer.
The Croatia international was earmarked as the perfect signing for the right wing and, in order to make room for the 29-year-old, Anthony Martial was deemed surplus to requirements.
Mourinho was left fuming, however, when Manchester United chief Woodward stopped Perisic from joining.
The Red Devils vice executive-chairman was reluctant to pursue the Inter Milan ace because of the fact that, at 29, he would have little sell-on value.
Mourinho was ready to cut Martial loose.
And the Mirror say the United boss is eager for Perisic to sign, despite Woodward failing to land him his man back in the summer.
It is claimed that he wants Woodward to change his mind by bringing the World Cup finalist to Old Trafford.
However, the Mirror claim Woodward is unlikely to do so.
Mourinho wants Martial gone having failed to coax the best from the France international during his two years at the club.
He has started just once so far this season - against Brighton - but toiled at the Amex Stadium and was hooked with the Red Devils chasing the game.
Despite that, though, Martial has many supporters in his corner.
Many United fans appreciate the 22-year-old even though he has found the net just once in 2018.
And Woodward shares their viewpoint.
Manchester United transfers: Expert predicts Perisic to join
Despite Martial wanting to leave - and Mourinho being happy to move him on - Woodward wants him to stay for the long-term.
A new contract has been put in front of the Frenchman.
Perisic’s signing may frustrate United fans who back Martial.
But what happens when the transfer window reopens in January remains to be seen.
