Liverpool news: ‘What a talent’ - Jurgen Klopp signing praised by Sky Sports pundit
LIVERPOOL midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri will turn out to be a shrewd signing by Reds manager Jurgen Klopp.
Liverpool: Shaqiri scores INCREDIBLE goal in training match
That is the opinion of Sky Sports pundit and former England defender Alex Scott.
Shaqiri left Stoke to join Liverpool in the summer after the Potters were relegated to the Championship.
The Switzerland international only cost the Merseyside club £12million and was one of four new signings in the close season.
Shaqiri is yet to make a competitive start for Liverpool, with Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino all ahead of him in the pecking order.
A great signing for Liverpool, even though he hasn’t had many minutes yet
But he has impressed in his two substitute appearances against West Ham and Leicester.
And speaking ahead of Switzerland’s friendly against England tonight, Scott predicts a fine season for the 26-year-old.
“Yeah, what a talent,” she said.
“A great signing for Liverpool, even though he hasn’t had many minutes yet.
“But he’s going to make an impact off the bench for Liverpool.”
Scott also praised Switzerland midfielder Denis Zakaria, who turned down both Liverpool and Arsenal in 2017.
Zakaria joined Borussia Monchengladbach instead because he was assured more game time than at the Premier League giants.
“When you look at the Swiss team, the young guy, 21, Zakaria, he turned down moves to Arsenal and Liverpool because he said he did not want to be sitting on the bench," Scott said.
“He wanted to make sure he was playing week in, week out.”
Liverpool have won all four of their Premier League games so far this season.
Klopp's side are back in action on Saturday when they visit Wembley to face Tottenham.
