Harry Kane: England concern for Tottenham man revealed - 'I feel so sorry for him'
TOTTENHAM star Harry Kane has not got the right players around him in the England team in order for him to show his best for his country, claims Liverpool legend John Barnes.
Kane won the Golden Boot at the World Cup this summer but Barnes does not think enough chances are being created for the Tottenham man.
The England captain netted six times at the tournament in Russia but three of them were from the penalty spot.
He has scored 19 goals in his 31 caps to date for the Three Lions but failed to score in the 2-1 Nations League defeat to Spain on Saturday.
And former England winger Barnes says there is not the creative player in the England side to create chances for Kane.
As much as he got the Golden Boot and is a fantastic goal scorer, we are not creating any chances for him
“I remember when this whole directive to get more comfortable on the ball started a few years ago,” Barnes told talkSPORT.
“What we did to promote comfort on the ball was start to get players who are comfortable on the ball.
“I think we needed to develop players who could play one and two touch.
“Instead we got players comfortable on the ball who could take 50 touches. So now we have players who can do that.
“Look at [Jesse] Lingard, [Marcus] Rashford, [Raheem] Sterling - they’re all very good dribblers.
"But we don’t have a creative player like Andrea Pirlo.
“So, we either have defensive midfield players like [Eric] Dier and [Jordan] Henderson or attacking midfielder players who just dribble.
“That is why I feel so sorry for Harry Kane.
“As much as he got the Golden Boot and is a fantastic goal scorer, we are not creating any chances for him.
“It’s because the players we want to be creative are the ones who have too many touches on the ball and who dribble.”
Kane is likely to be involved in England's friendly against Switzerland on Tuesday.
However, club team-mate Dele Alli has returned to Tottenham due to a muscle injury.
He could be a doubt for the visit of Liverpool this Saturday in the Premier League.
