Man Utd news: Fans absolutely RINSE Chong for missing sitter in reserve clash
MANCHESTER UNITED youngster Tahith Chong has been rinsed by fans for missing a sitter during a Red Devils reserves game.
Man Utd youngster Tahith Chong MISSES chance against Stoke
United under-23s took on Stoke last week at Old Trafford and a 1-0 victory helped the youngsters continue their unbeaten start to the season.
Angel Gomes was on target with a stunning curling effort in the 37th minute to ensure three points in the Premier League 2 Divison Two.
But before Gomes’ strike, 18-year-old Chong had a glorious opportunity to put his side ahead.
Gomes turned delightfully in the box before laying off the ball to an unmarked Chong.
However, the forward completely miss-fired his shot and sent the ball flying up into the stands.
And Manchester United supporters were not impressed with Chong’s poor effort.
“Waaat that miss though,” one fan wrote. “Chances like that you convert.”
Another supporter said: “So Chong I'm out there doing your propaganda and you miss that? Damn bro.”
“Pretty s**t isn't he,” a third fan said.
A fourth supporter wrote: “Chong has to score that.”
One of United’s new summer signings – Diogo Dalot – featured for the majority of the meeting at Old Trafford.
He played 78 minutes of the win under the watchful eye of first-team manager Jose Mourinho.
Dalot is yet to make his debut for the first team following a knee injury a suffered before securing his £19million switch to the Premier League.
However, the 19-year-old insists he is ready to make an impact for Mourinho.
“If the manager thinks I’m ready and he wants me to play, I will play, for sure,” said the Portugal under-21 international.
“I’m going to prepare myself for that and as soon as he wants me, I’ll be ready.
“His history talks for itself. He’s a great manager, one of the greatest managers ever. Of course it helps. The communication helps, too.
“He believes in me, that’s the most important thing. I’m hoping to repay that and give him what he wants from me.”
