Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes has repeatedly stated that McKenna is not for sale, although the player was interested in a move to the English Championship with Villa.
McInnes also rebuffed interest in McKenna from Swansea City earlier this summer, after which he claimed McKenna is destined to play in the Premier League.
He said: “I think Scott will go straight to the English Premier League in time. He will by-pass the Championship.
“He is too good not to be playing in the Premier League in the future. I think Scott feels he is good enough too. I think it suggests the confidence that the player has in himself.

"It’s human nature to get giddy and excited by speculation and the thought of earning a bit more money. But the best players, the confident players, they wait for the right opportunity.
"No disrespect to the Championship clubs because they have a lot of money to spend but I think Scott will go straight to the Premier League.”
McKenna made 35 appearances in his first season in Aberdeen’s senior squad last season having previously spent time out on loan at Alloa Athletic and Ayr United and also earned his first four caps for Scotland.
But the in-demand defender remains under contract at Pittodrie until 2023 after penning a new-and-improved contract back in March.

McKenna was also the subject of three rejected bids from Hull City last January as Aberdeen look to keep their star man for as long as possible.
In terms of incoming deadline-day business, the Dons completed the signing of former Airdrie defender Jordan McGregor, 21, on a short-term deal after he impressed on trial.
McInnes’ side face Kilmarnock today (3pm) hoping to leap ahead of Celtic and Rangers, who face each other in the highly-anticipated first Old Firm derby of the campaign tomorrow (12pm).
McKenna will not be involved due to a hamstring injury he has been struggling with since Aberdeen's opening game against Rangers.
