Man Utd news: Jose Mourinho will do one thing to inspire players against Tottenham
MANCHESTER UNITED boss Jose Mourinho will tell his players to prove they are worthy of playing for the club to drive them to victory against Tottenham.
Lee Sharpe claims Mourinho doesn't give Man United instructions
That is the view of Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson.
Manchester United host Tottenham, who have won their opening two Premier League matches, on Monday at Old Trafford.
Mourinho will be hoping his side can bounce back from their shock 3-2 defeat over Brighton last weekend.
And he is set to recall the likes of Nemanja Matic, Ander Herrera, Antonio Valencia, Alexis Sanchez and Jesse Lingard to the team.
While the likes of Anthony Martial, Juan Mata, Andreas Pereira and Ashley Young all face being dropped from the team.
Romelu Lukaku scored the only goal in the corresponding fixture last season.
And Merson has backed United to triumph over Tottenham once again with Mourinho inspiring his players to the win.
Merson told Sky Sports: “Over the last three or four years, you see Manchester United turn it on in these type of games, when the pressure is on.
“They've done it to Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham, everyone.
“I don't know how they do it. I've seen this so many times.
“Jose Mourinho will tell them to go out and prove they're good enough to play for the biggest club in the world.
“Because that's what they are, in my opinion.”
Midfielder Fred is set to start for United and he believes a win is key for them to get back on track.
"It's a very important game," he told Sky Sports.
"This week we've been working, focusing on this game, we want to go out and get the win in front of our home fans.
"We know Tottenham are a great team but we need to get the win if we are to aspire to win the league."
