Man Utd news: Alexis Sanchez delivers injury update following Brighton humiliation
ALEXIS SANCHEZ has resumed training after missing Manchester United’s shock defeat to Brighton on Sunday due to injury.
Alexis Sanchez gives Man United fans an injury update
Sanchez missed the trip to Brighton over the weekend after picking up a slight injury during training last Friday.
But, in a boost for the Red Devils faithful, Sanchez has posted a video on his Instagram story promising fans he will “be back soon”.
Sanchez filmed himself sitting in the United dressing room after a gruelling training session.
He wrote: “Training to be back soon. Come on United.”
While Sanchez’s niggle is understood to be minor, Jose Mourinho admitted the Chile international could be sidelined for up to two weeks.
“Alexis was going to play but he had a little problem, so we had to decide to give an opportunity to another attacking player,” Mourinho said.
“I don’t know about [Sanchez's return date], let's wait for results but I don’t think it’s a big thing, one week, two weeks max.”
Sanchez joins Sergio Romero (knee), Diogo Dalot (meniscus) and Marcos Rojo on the treatment table at Carrington.
It’s unclear whether they will be fit to feature against Tottenham on Monday night.
Antonio Valencia (calf) and Nemanja Matic (abdominal) are in line to return against Spurs after recovering from their pre-season injuries.
Meanwhile, Mourinho’s future at Old Trafford remains in doubt following the shocking defeat to Brighton.
United were stunned by three first-half goals from Glenn Murray, Shane Duffy and Pascal Gross.
And while Romelu Lukaku and Paul Pogba were both on target to reduce the deficit for United, it didn’t stop the visitors from slumping to a humiliating loss.
The BBC claim Mourinho retains the backing of Manchester United’s board but former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane remains linked with the Old Trafford job.
