Barcelona transfer news: Man City emergency loan for Jasper Cillessen OFF
BARCELONA will not be offloading goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen onto Manchester City this summer.
Manchester City are considering heading into the emergency loan market after Claudio Bravo ruptured his Achilles tendon.
The defending Premier League champions can sign a goalkeeper outside of the transfer window on an emergency loan, or on a free deal.
Barcelona shot-stopper Cillessen had emerged as a viable target of ex-Barca boss Pep Guardiola.
But reports in Spain claim the Etihad club will not be moving for the 29-year-old.
According to Spanish newspaper SPORT, Cillessen is not an option for Manchester City.
Guardiola may look elsewhere in the loan or free transfer market to sign a shot-stopper - but Dutchman Cillessen will remain at the Nou Camp.
He was linked with both Arsenal and Liverpool over the summer but both Premier League sides resolved their goalkeeping shortcomings without moving for the Dutchman.
SPORT claim Cillessen is expected to stay at Barca this season even though there are still 10 days of the Spanish transfer window remaining.
Jasper Cillessen: Barcelona stopper shows goalkeeping prowess
Cillessen remains second choice at Barcelona behind Marc-Andre ter Stegen and there appears little chance of the Netherlands international taking the No 1 slot at the Nou Camp.
He joined Barca from Ajax back in 2016 in an £11.1m deal but has made just a handful of starts - mainly in the Copa del Rey.
As for Barcelona, they are said to be plugging ahead with plans to sign Frenkie De Jong from Ajax.
The Netherlands international is available for £44.2m, although Ajax are keen for him to remain in Amsterdam until next summer.
De Jong is said to be open to joining Barca if a bid comes in but will not force the issue.
Barca officials will reportedly meet this week to discuss their options.
