Tottenham news: Spurs consider bid for cash-strapped Celtic's Kieran Tierney
TOTTENHAM could exploit Celtic’s Champions League misery by making a cut-price £10million bid for Kieran Tierney in January.
Spurs baulked at this summer’s £20m asking price for the 22-year-old Scotland defender.
But Celtic’s failure to reach the Champions League group stages – after losing 3-2 on aggregate to AEK Athens – has hit the Scottish champions hard in the pocket.
And Spurs could test their resolve, with Celtic now needing to make up a £27m shortfall in income.
Spurs have been criticised at their failure to embellish their squad in the summer.
If I am a person that gives my opinion from outside of Tottenham, I can give both sides. Then I can always be right!
They became the first side since the introduction of the summer transfer window in 2003 to not sign a single player.
And head coach Mauricio Pochettino has criticised pundits for their fickle nature regarding the transfer inactivity.
“If I am a person that gives my opinion from outside of Tottenham, I can give both sides. Then I can always be right!” he told the Evening Standard.
“Maybe one day I can say, ‘Yes, that’s going to be a big mistake, he is going to pay’.

“But then after two wins against Newcastle and Fulham, I’ll say, ‘No, keeping the squad together is a massive advantage over a team that signed 10 players!’”
“If we win then they’ll say, ‘Tottenham was clever to keep all the players together’.
“If we don’t have success they will say, ‘They made a mistake. They didn’t have a deep enough squad.’ But that is football.”
