James Milner: Liverpool captain jokes of RUGBY career after injury
JAMES MILNER has joked he is learning to be a prop forward after playing with a head bandage in Liverpool’s win over West Ham.
Milner was captain for the day and proved instrumental for the Reds in the middle of the field.
He played alongside new signing Naby Keita as Liverpool cut West Ham apart.
Two goals from Sadio Mane and strikes from Mohamed Salah and Daniel Sturridge secured a comfortable win at Anfield.
Milner was named man of the match, having played with a head bandage after suffering a cut forehead in pre-season.
Learning a new position…
And the ex-Leeds United gem joked after the match he may be set for a new career in rugby league.
Tweeting a picture of himself, he wrote: “Great way to kick off the new season - a win... and learning a new position... #YNWA #propforward”
Liverpool fans on social media replied to the post.
One wrote: “You were immense Milly.
Thought there were 2 Millies out there in the second half”
Another wrote: “Great game, James...well deserved MOTM! Have a Ribena or two!”
A third put: “You'd be a great prop forward! Love you James!”
And a Leeds United account simply said: “MOTM”
