The Mercedes star finished second behind Sebastian Vettel in the season-opening Australian Grand Prix after a software blunder allowed the Ferrari driver to steal the lead.
Vettel downplayed his victory in Melbourne but Hamilton believes Ferrari will be “rapid” in Bahrain next month.
“Their performance is better than it looked,” he said.
“Ferrari are going to be quick on the straights.
“They are going to be rapid at the next race, they are going to be good in Bahrain.
They are going to be rapid at the next race, they are going to be good in Bahrain
“They are always good on hot circuits – even though it is a night race it is tough on the tyres.
“I can tell you it’s not going to be easy that’s for sure and it’s going to be close.”
Mercedes have opened an investigation into the computer issue which cost Hamilton maximum points in Australia.

Toto Wolff, the team boss, said: ”It was clearly a problem on our side and we need to analyse that to understand what happened and correct it.
“Lewis was in control through the opening stint of the race and then after his pit stop and looked on course for a strong victory.
“It is a tough one to take but there are lots of lessons to be learned so we can come back stronger next time.”
