Lewis Hamilton: Max Verstappen makes surprise claim about Mercedes
MAX VERSTAPPEN has made a surprising claim about Lewis Hamilton’s team Mercedes.
Lewis Hamilton will be hoping for more success in 2018
Lewis Hamilton was dominant last season as he collected his fourth world title making him Britain’s most successful F1 driver of all time.
Verstappen enjoyed some success, winning two races and finishing sixth overall in the drivers standings.
While the Dutchman is likely to be a contender to Hamilton next season, he insists he would get more “satisfaction” winning a World Championship from a gruelling campaign as opposed to clinching the title with races to spare like Mercedes did.
“Lewis [Hamilton] is very talented," Verstappen told Mobil 1 The Grid.
To have a real challenge [for the title] that would give me more satisfaction
"Some people need to work up to their team-mates but he doesn't really need that.
“He has been one of the most consistent front-runners.
"To have a real challenge [for the title], instead of winning easy like Mercedes have been doing for a few years, that would give me more satisfaction.
Max Verstappen says he would rather win titles the harder way
"But still, like in Mexico, I also really like to dominate races."
The new F1 season gets underway on March 25 at the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne.
