F1 news: Ferrari driver Kimi Raikkonen gives verdict on Robert Kubica return with Williams
KIMI RAIKKONEN has no problem with Robert Kubica making a Formula One comeback.
Ferrari driver Kimi Raikkonen is happy for Robert Kubica to return to Formula One with Williams
The Polish driver has not competed in the sport since suffering life-changing injuries in a rally crash between tests in 2011.
He’s been tipped to return to F1 next season though as Williams seek a replacement for Felipe Massa to race alongside Lance Stroll.
Kubica came through more than 100 test laps at Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina Circuit on Tuesday as Williams consider adding him to their roster.
And Raikkonen, who’ll be driving in F1 again for Ferrari in 2018, has offered his verdict on the 32-year-old’s potential return.
It's great if he finds a place at a team again
"Why should I be worried?" said Raikkonen, when asked if drivers are fearful that Kubica could affect their safety.
"I'm sure Robert would not be driving if he was not sure of his abilities.
"I am happy for him. It's great if he finds a place at a team again."

Raikkonen’s receptiveness to Kubica eyeing a comeback has not been shared by everyone in motorsport though.
"Honestly, it's a joke," said former Williams and McLaren driver Juan Pablo Montoya earlier this month.
"I'm sure Robert is no longer 100 per cent capable of pushing a Formula One car to the limit."
